Recent Patient Case Histories

 

Patient: CG

65 year old male with a medical diagnosis of compression fracture of 12 thoracic vertebras with girdle pain around ribs. Pains were described as 10 on a scale of 10. Pain on respiration and any movement of the spine was excruciating. No relief was forthcoming by the medical procedures and he sought relief from acupuncture. X-rays disclosed extensive calcification at the 12t-1L articulation.

Treatment 1 :Tues. Balance method System #2 applied. Felt slight change in severity of the pain.

Treatment #2: Thurs. Patient reported he had slept better and pain was still there but reduced somewhat. Treatment similar but slightly different was applied. Dr. Tung special points for thoraco-lumbar area were used. More relief noted than the first treatment.

Treatment #3: Fri. Patient stated pain as about a 3/10 and was getting better each day. Flexion-distraction adjustments were applied. This was impossible on the first two visits. Balance method System#2 was again used. He stated that he had been doing some heavy work. He was advised not to do so. Pain almost gone today.

Treatment #4: Following Monday. Flexion distraction was again applied. Then traditional acupuncture to the local Hua-to and Du Mo were used. He reported no pain and was happy with the result.

Patient called five days later to inform us of normal function with no pain.

End of patient care. This was a good example of a case of successful completion to a problem that apparently was impossible by western medical standards.

Patient: DH 49 year old worker.

Patient gave history of a severe pain in the right l tarsal-phalangeal joint which had lasted for over two years. Frequent visits to orthopedic specialists gave no relief. Pain pills gave no relief but injured his stomach and required ending that approach.

Treatment #1: Examination revealed exquisite pain palpable at indicated articulation. Carried X-rays and MRI’s showed extensive calcification at the joint. Twig’s method applied to let the pain point and insert needles into the left hand and foot produced a change in pain level from 10/10 to a 3/10 in 45 minute reduction cycle.

Treatment #2: Next day visit showed less palpable pain at same articulation. Patient stated he could walk with very little pain and comfortably do his job for 8 hours. Same treatment was applied and patient described only soreness at the site.

Treatment #3: Four days later no pain was evident and patient was discharged A booster treatment was applied.

Excellent results were achieved in an impossible circumstance by western standards.

Patient: DW: 73 year old retired farm wife.

Treatment #1: Patient had a history of chronic left sacro-iliac and hip problems for years. Treated by medical physicians and chiropractors for many years with only marginal relief or none at all. Examined by Chinese methods and treated with the Balance method and Tung’s Dao Ma. Needles in position for global balance was applied for 45 minutes and pain relief was instant. Patient could walk and sit without pain for the first time in several months.

Treatment #2: ROM’s and palpable examination showed excellent changes. Same treatment was done with ear points added for extra help. The change in only two days was astounding.

Treatment #3: Patient happy that there was no pain for the last 2 days. She asked for permission to do more work in her garden and lawn mowing. Light work recommended. Still pain free after several days. Patient noticed a great deal of energy response from the treatments.

Treatment #4: After five days since the last treatment no pain present. No symptoms at the site were noticed. Could not be more pleased with this result and remarked that she didn’t realize how good it felt to be normal without pain or constant medication.

Patient: JO. Retired telephone operator.

Treatment # 1: Patient complained of severe pains about 9/10 level in right middle back and right low back. Difficult to get out of bed in the A.M. Was awake bout every 2 hours at night and had difficulty getting back to sleep due to the pain. Any movement was exquisitely painful.

Examination disclosed mid thoracic and 5L-Sl articulations very painful and spasm was obvious in both areas. Balance acupuncture method was chosen at both levels. Needles reduced for 45 minutes at both sites and image positions. She rated pains at about 4/10 after the treatment..

Treatment #2: Slept better last night. Easier to get up this morning. Pain level at times about the same often pain is less. Treatment was the same as before. Balance method and Tung’s method used with better relief.

Treatment # 3: Both hip and leg easier today. Estimates pain at 5/10. Testing showed much better ROM’s in all areas. Same treatment today as before.

Treatment # 4: Three days after the last treatment pain reduced even more. Both upper back and lower spine has better movement and less discomfort. The treatment was the same as before.

Treatment #5: Almost no pain anywhere. sleeping good getting up only once or twice a night. No pain in the A.M. on arising. Tung’s method applied and good results obtained.

Treatment # 6: One week since the last treatment. No pains of any kind. Has slight allergy today. Treated with balance method and symptoms relieved.

Treatment # 7: Feels normal in every respect. Allergy symptoms still gone. Range of motion tested in all areas of the spine. Patient discharged.

Two months have passed and no back pains present. Patient desired a total treatment for general health reasons. Used balance method for entire body health. Says she is happy to be normal in all functions.

Patient: JM 48 year old worker.

Has been trying to quit smoking for several months. Has tried about every gimmick on the market, some costing lots of money with no result. Using the gum at the time of presentation at this office. General examination showed excellent health except for slight rales on upper left lung. These were probably due to many years of cigarette use.

Treatment # 1. Addiction points were electronically stimulated along with anxiety points of chinese medicine. Patient felt very comfortable with the treatment. Said he felt very relaxed which is the normal response to acupuncture.

Treatment #2. Patient remarked he had no craving since the treatment yesterday. Felt very easy with a satisfied feeling. Used same treatment as before. Told patient it may take one or two visits more to make the treatment last. I had him call the office 3 days later and inform us of the result. He called and had no recurrence of the cravings in that period of time. This was 1/10 of the cost he had already paid for the other non-smoking techniques. Patient has referred others for various treatments at this office.

Patient: WL Retired proffessional

Diagnosed as Gastro.Esopheageal Reflux Disease. Has been under medication for several months. The drugs were making him very ill so he decided to try acupuncture for his malady.

Treatment # 1. Examination disclosed severe pain in the upper abdomen. Treatment consisted of stimulating points associated with digestion using the balance method and Tung’s Dao Ma. After treatment no pain was found in the abdomen. He was also placed on Chinese herbal medicine to help heal the inflammatory area of the stomach and esophagus. Since he traveled very often I recommended digestive enzymes also.

Treatment #2. 3 days later patient returned for examination and treatment for the malady. He stated he was the most comfortable he had been in the last 2 years with no digestive distress. He was treated with the balance method and discharged so he could go south Ibr 2 months of the winter.

Patient returned 3 monthe later and informed us of no problem whatsoever. He has continued on a reduced level of herbal medication to keep the problem from coming back.

Patientt: LR 50 year old housewife.

History of chronic colitis with periods of hemorrhage. Severe pains in lower left abdomen with episodes of disability. No improvement with several medications over years of treatment. Decided to try acupuncture after hearing about the good results from a relative and a friend.

Treatment # 1. Examination confirmed lower left abdomen spasms and exquisite pain on palpatory exploration. She confirmed that she also had symptoms of reflux problems on and off. Balance method for digestive disturbances was employed with some elements of Tung’s Dao Ma technique. She noted relief in the abdomen within minutes of the implantation. Chinese pulse testing showed improvement ahnost immediately. After treatment patient was placed on Chinese herbals suitable for the condition.

Treatment #2. Patient happy with yesterday’s approach She slept better than she had in years. She quit the medications the day before she came to this office. Spastic condition in the abdomen was gone and digestion was normal. She again was treated by the balance method supported by the Dao Ma. She remarked that the relaxation during the treatment made it all worth while.

Treatment #3. Feels great no symptoms. Palpation of abdomen demonstrated no tenderness with no contractions. Used Balance method for digestion with ear points for colon.

Treatment #4. No symptoms after 8 days from the last

treatment. Is very happy to feel normal and function properly. Used the 12 Magic points to enhance the total body metabolism. Patient going on vacation for several days.

Patient returned from vacation and after 2 1/2 weeks still does well. Treated to reach a higher level of function in other ares of the body. Picked up herbal remedies to take as a precaution. Several years of trouble has been negated by the use of Chiropractic and Chinese Medicine in a short period of time. Patient discharged from active care for this disease.

Patient: CW. Professional Services

Patient treated for pain in the knee, a residue of surgical proceedure. Obtained excellent relief today. Patient was trying to quit smoking
but has had poor results with all the methods she has tried.

Treated with acupuncture for the addiction points electronically. Felt complete satiation after the treatment.

Treatment #2. One day since the last visit. Treated with same acupuncture approach as before. Has has no desire to smoke. Knee better also today.

Treatment #3. Three days later still no desire to smoke. Knee is better also. Want one more treatment to keep from smoking. Same treatment applied.

Patient still not smoking almost 4 years after treatment. Very satisfied with the approach and refers others for this method.

Patient: MJP. Retired managerial worker.

Patient diagnosed with GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease). Stomach contents regurgitating up the throat with severe burning and pain in the area. Constantly upseting digestive system with no relief from several medications. Other systems in trouble with this syndrome.

Treatment #1. Combination of the Balance Method and Tung Advanced acupuncture provided with good relief after about 20 minutes of needle reduction. After 50 minutes needles were removed and and patient felt surprisingly better.

Treatment #2. The following day same treatment applied with excellent results again. Patient slept better and stomach fels much better. Throat still sore and therfore esophageal points were added to the treatment. Easier after treatment today

Treament #3. Three days later patient stated little or no pain in the throat and no upset stomach. Same treatment applied as last visit.

Treatment #4. Treatment changed to reflect on other problems that she wanted taken care of. In this short period patient received relief not possible with any other tratment she had tried. After several weeks patient still has not reverted to her previous state.

Patient: JM. Retired

Patient examination disclosed severe spinal curvature and gave history of periodic troubles over many years. Pain area mostly over the mid — thoracic spine. Also has a long problem of asthmatic episodes. Severe wheezing today and severe pains in the back on respiration. She is on a nebulizer to assist breathing.

Treatment #1. Patient treaed with flexion-distraction

approach. Special points for upper back pain and asthma were administerd. She noticed relief from both conditions after the treatment. Can breathe better with less effort.

Treatment #2. Five days later patient was able to get in for

her treatment. Treatment the same but more toward the pain relief. Has has good results the last few days.

Treatment #3. Three days later returned for rhe next visit. She reported no pain and her cold therapy which was prescribed was also helpful. Again the balance method of acupuncture was administerd. Patient discharged with advice to return whenever the asthma worsened.

One month later patient still doing well.
