Dr. Eugene L. Shay DC, CAc (HK) is the founder of Pain Therapies. With an extensive study of Natural Healing Methods, Dr. Shay has amassed a large assortment of approaches to aid in treatment of most conditions affecting the western patient. These include gentle effective manipulations, electrical modalities, homeopathy, herbal and nutritional aids. With over 35 years of Asian medical study, including herbal and acupuncture, Dr. Shay has concentrated on quick and lasting relief from a large amount of symptoms. The fast pain relief in some conditions is truly remarkable. Treatments specific for severe intractable pain are the target of our approach.
Each patient comes with a different history and combination of symptoms and therefore requires different examinations to determine the most effective approach..
A consultation will inform the Doctor what is the proper treatments to administer, also how long it may take to gain suitable correction of the problem. We here at Traditional Pain Therapies are interested in more than just relief from pain but to get rid of the cause of the problem so that it does not return.
Training:
First treated with acupuncture in Japan in early 1946 for influenza while still in the U.S. Marine Corps. There was an epidemic and most were taking ten days to two weeks for recovery. My Japanese helper advised me to go to local doctor whom he said was better than what I was getting. After a five mile drive in a jeep in a driving rain I arrived at his doctors place. I was treated with acupuncture and then drove back to our barracks. I slept for 10 hours and upon awakening went back to normal duty. This was normal under this therapy I was informed. Upon discharge I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic, ‘graduated and took courses at National College, Northwestern College, and Logan College.
In 1971 I started studies in acupuncture and have had ongoing seminars ever since. In the interim physiotherapy, homeopathic and nutrition have aided in my practice. Dr. Upledger’s CranialSacral Therapy has also had a place in recent years. I feel these experiences help me to better understand and effectively treat my patients for faster recovery, from various maladies.
